📢 Open Letter: A Call to Action – Pad a Girl, Mentor a Boy
A small pack, a big sense of dignity. During Team Tetea’s SRHR program in Kimuka, Ngong – Kajiado County, 106 girls received SRHR mentorship, sanitary towels, and essential hygiene products. Moments like this remind us that access, education, and care can quietly change a girl’s confidence and her future.

Dear Friends, Partners and Changemakers,

Every day, countless girls in Kenya miss school because they lack access to sanitary products, and countless boys drift into risky behaviors without positive guidance. This is the reality we face - but it doesn’t have to be our future.

The Reality:

The reality on the ground is stark.

✓ In Kenya, over 65% of girls can’t afford basic menstrual products, causing 1 million girls to miss school each month.

âś“ At the same time, boys are falling into harmful patterns: a study shows that 24.7% of secondary school boys engage in drug abuse, often tied to peer pressure, poverty, and a lack of guidance.

✓ And the cost doesn’t stop there - disposable pads add to plastic pollution, clogging landfills and harming our climate.

We cannot let this continue!

The Impact

By investing in Pad A Girl, Mentor A Boy, we create a future where;

• Girls stay in school. Studies show that reusable pads can last 4 to 6 months, giving girls a chance to focus on their dreams. Beating Period Poverty.
• And Boys, guided by mentorship, will grow into men who uplift their communities.
• Environmentally, this project champions SDG 13—Climate Action—by cutting plastic waste and promoting a circular economy.
✓ And it aligns with SDG 4—Quality Education—and SDG 5—Gender Equality—ensuring all students thrive together.

Our vision is a ripple effect: stronger schools, empowered youth, and a cleaner, greener future.
